Sweet Memories |
 |
After completing my primary education at
Canossa Convent Primary School, I proceeded to the sister school - St. Anthony's Convent Secondary School. I
could not recall having sweet memories from my primary school days except
the gratitude I have for Sister Margaret, for her unfailing kindness in
looking after me for the six years. |

St. Anthony's Convent is where I spent
my happiest moments. We were a bunch of mischievous and playful girls.
Most probably our teacher's BIG headache too. Even our discipline master
could not handle us and eventually our class had to be split into two
different classes. However, this did not stop us from doing "funny" things. Due
to this,
we had eight different science teachers for a year! There was a male teacher who taught us for
ONLY for a day.

During my school days, I took on a part-time
job to lessen my mother's load, to pay for my daily school expenses.
Although I did not have the luxury of buying things or eating the food I
like but that did not make me feel sad. In fact, I'm better off
than those unfortunate ones who did not have a chance of going to school
at all.
(Picture on the left) The girl in uniform in
the center of front row is
our Maths teacher, Ms Kang. She really made Maths an interesting
subject. |
The
sweetest memory
would be me getting 'Mandy' this name. It was given to me by my
classmate, Lynette, when we were in secondary three. She got this name
from a story book she read: 'A Song For Mandy'. She mentioned that
the girl in the book reminded her of me - an independent girl. This
name is beautiful and I love it very much. I have used it as my
English name ever since.
The lady in flowery clothes was my form
teacher, Ms Ethel Goh. She was a wonderful teacher: very patient
and helpful. Does she look like the actress, Nadia Chan
Chung Ling from Hong Kong?? |
